Abacus REST API meets Laravel Eloquent — Less Code, 100% Open Source.

Why start from scratch when there's an easier, faster way? With the Laravel Abacus API by Contoweb, integrating Abacus into Laravel applications is straightforward and fast. Anyone who knows Laravel can send their first query to Abacus and evaluate the returned results in just five minutes. Best of all, it's a completely open source package—so keep reading, or dive right in!

Laravel Abacus API

Stop wrestling with APIs

Bringing Abacus data into a Laravel application? Sure, it’s doable. But as always, the devil is in the details. Setting up connections, parsing payloads, managing records—these repetitive tasks consume time and show up in every project. And honestly, who wants to spend hours on boilerplate code when there are more exciting challenges to solve?

That’s where Laravel Abacus API comes in. Contoweb’s open-source package removes the integration heavy lifting and makes the Abacus interface accessible via familiar Laravel structures. Instead of writing custom connectors from scratch, you get out-of-the-box functionality so you can focus on building your application’s core features. Less boilerplate coding, more actual development.

Eloquent instead of elbows

Anyone who develops with Laravel knows Eloquent Models and the Query Builder. They allow you to query and edit data without having to program every operation from scratch. When connecting external systems, things often look different. Suddenly, API requests have to be formulated, responses processed, and data put into a format that the application can actually use. It works—it’s just not much fun.

Laravel Abacus API addresses this exact issue. Modeled after Eloquent, the package brings familiar Laravel conventions to your Abacus integration. Developers can create custom models for Abacus resources and use them to retrieve, filter, sort, or edit data records. OData functions like Select and Expand are also supported, allowing you to specify exactly which data to query and which related information to load alongside it.

Want an example?

Getting started is surprisingly easy. Anyone familiar with Laravel will quickly feel at home with the package. Once the connection to the Abacus REST API is configured and the corresponding model is set up, retrieving a data record takes a single line:

Product::where('ProductNumber', 'eq', '0964')->paginate()->items();

And just like that, the first data comes back from Abacus—without a major shift in mindset and without heaps of extra code. That instantly makes the integration more enjoyable. Working with the data remains comfortably close to what Laravel developers already know, fitting seamlessly into existing Laravel projects.

CRUD, OData, Batch. And much more.

Retrieving individual data records is all well and good, but in practice, things quickly become more complex. A customer portal needs up-to-date master data, an online shop wants to pull prices and product information from Abacus, and a business application needs to update records or provide documents. Different requirements that share one common need: reliable data exchange between Abacus and Laravel.

To handle this, Laravel Abacus API provides a complete toolkit. Beyond classic CRUD operations, the package supports OData queries for filtering, sorting, and selecting data. Batch requests allow multiple operations to be bundled into a single request, reducing the number of individual network calls and improving performance. Processing paginated results is also built-in so that larger volumes of data can be retrieved step by step.

Laravel Abacus API Schema 2

From price calculations to PDFs

And because Abacus can do more than manage master data, the package goes further, too. Customer-specific price calculations can be executed using the corresponding Abacus functions. AbaReports can be integrated, and PDFs or other files can be retrieved. Furthermore, PHPDoc support and IDE autocompletion simplify daily work in the editor.

The result is not a rigid integration schema, but a flexible tool for diverse Laravel applications. Whether it's a customer portal, online shop, or custom business application: which functions are needed depends on the project. Laravel Abacus API delivers the matching building blocks.

Abacus mastered. Laravel in the blood.

As an official Abacus integration partner, we bring hands-on experience from numerous Abacus projects. Laravel, too, is part of our daily craft—we use it to build custom web applications for a wide variety of client requirements. We also maintain a close, friendly, and partner-based relationship with the Laravel ecosystem.

Laravel Abacus API bundles our expertise from both worlds—and we want to share that with other developers.

Open source? Absolutely!

What works for us should make life easier for others, too. That’s why we’ve made the package available as open source since June 2026. The package is hosted on GitHub and can be used, customized, and further developed free of charge—completely straightforwardly under the MIT license. Anyone who wants to try it out can install the package directly via Composer:

composer require contoweb/laravel-abacus-api

After that, simply configure the connection to the Abacus REST API, add your credentials, and get started. The necessary guides and code examples are provided right alongside it on GitHub.
