Background

With the introduction of Abacus as their new ERP system, Alurex Soleda also wanted to rethink the design and configuration of their products. Up until this point, window sills and other aluminum structures required a high degree of manual effort, heavily dependent on the expertise of employees. A solution was needed that would digitally consolidate design knowledge and efficiently integrate configuration with subsequent processes.

Solution

Contoweb developed a web-based product configurator that digitally maps the entire design logic of aluminum profiles, frames, window sills, gallery panels, and other structures. Products are configured, dimensioned, and immediately visualized in 3D, directly in the browser. The configurator communicates bidirectionally with the master product data and order management system in Abacus, then assembles the design in such a way that it can be offered directly for production on the machines.

Today, design expertise is embedded in the system, not just in the minds of employees. The instant 3D preview, including dimensions, makes designs easy to comprehend and reduces misunderstandings. The requirements were complex, and the possibilities were initially difficult to foresee. However, together with Alurex Soleda, Contoweb developed a solution that goes far beyond the initial idea. In the first six months after going live, there were approximately 22,500 configurations, demonstrating the practicality of the new solution.
